Everybody! Rejoice! Today is national food day and it’s the perfect excuse to succumb to your cravings. Unfortunately, that was a lie. National Food Day isn’t like that. The day encourages everyone to eat healthy and cut back on junk food a.k.a. overly salted food, fatty food, or sugar drinks. It celebrates the fact that healthy food doesn’t have to be expensive and can be produced with the care for nature, animals, and the people who grow and harvest them.
Eating healthy isn’t as bad as it sounds. It may seem like you must be very particular and know every detail on what you are eating, but its truly not the case. Healthy food is readily available in most places, one just needs to put effort into finding them. A lot of options include eating fruits as opposed to indulging on sweet treats. Although fruits have some sugar in them, they are what we call natural sugar which can be good for the body. Another thing you can add in your snack options are berries. Berries are good sources of antioxidants that helps you maintain the sharpness of your memory and contain compounds that help smooth blood flow. Best thing about them? They are low in fat and free of saturated fat!
Skip the Salt
Although it should be fairly obvious by now but staying away from too much salt is the best way to stay healthy. If you like cooking at home, great! But skip on using regular table salt on those dishes. Instead try buying Himalayan salt or Celtic sea salt to add flavor to your meals. These salts are natural and are rich in minerals that are good for your body.
