5-Star Reviews for Assaggio in January

And just like that, the first month of 2019 is already done. As always, we try our best to serve our customers with exceptional service and a memorable experience. Read below some reviews our customers left us for the month of January.

EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE YOU MUST GO IF YOU ARE EVER IN THE NORTH END – We had reservations for 7:30 pm because we had to wait the manager sent over a drink on the house there was 4 in our party. Our server Marrisa was wonderful, excellent service, very personable, and entertaining as well. We all had something different, the lamb and veal were excellent, It was my daughters birthday and Marissa brought over dessert with a candle in it to wish her Happy Birthday, We have eaten at other places in the North End but I would say this is one of the best. Everyone should try if your ever in the North End.

One of the top meals Ive had in North End – We have been coming to the North End for over 30 years. While we have been to Assaggio several times in the past, last nights sublime meal puts it at the head of the class in the North End. We will be back to try other offerings very soon.
Located on Prince Street next to St. Leonards, the upstairs dining area is small with 15 or so tables. There is a small bar area with TV. The decor is understated with muted tones with dim lighting.(bring reading glasses if over 40:-)) Noise level as medium throughout.
We made reservations and were promptly seated by the Maitre D’. Immediately, our server asked if we wanted water (sparkling) or drinks. The water glasses were filled and were re-filled quickly throughout the evening. The Server was excellent the entire meal. It was a team of servers working together whether to re-fresh the bread or more water or to clear the tables.
We shared two plates: Nerano, zucchini pasta with provolone. Very silky and tasted out of this world. One of my favorite dishes that I have experienced in presentation and flavor was grigliata: it was a collection of seafood-Giant Prawn, Shrimp, Salmon, Swordfish, Lobster, Scallop, Octopus, and Squid all grilled to perfection. We will too full to try a dessert but the cappuccinos were excellent.

Fantastic Food and Service – We had reservations at Durgin Park for their farewell week on a cold winter Monday night; when we arrived they had no more food, so we headed to Assaggio where we’d been years ago. I am so very happy we ended up there because every bite, start to finish, was imbued with wonderfully balanced flavors. The olive oil, the salt cod on bruschetta, the seafood risotto, each delectable and cooked perfectly. And the service was terrific. It is my new favorite place.

I hadn’t been to Assagio in a long time and knew they’d gone through renovations, but I didn’t know there was new ownership. The inside looks great and modern, and the only thing I miss from the old Assagio was the lobster ravioli…….hint hint. Anyways, our server Merisa (spelling?) was fantastic. She was always there when we needed something, made sure everything was tasting great, but didn’t hover over us. I went with her recommendation of the Capri, which was actually the first time I’ve ever had risotto and it was SO good. We’ll come back just to see Merisa! (and to try the lobster ravioli once it’s added to the menu)
